Bowers & Wilkins has launched Zeppelin. This is an integrated iPod speaker system. This can fill the ambience with lifelike, deep and crisp stereo sound. There exists a simple design and world leading technology that result in getting the most out of the music. The speaker system looks sexy and sleek. The sound quality is excellent all the way up to “11.” The design is such that the hand can be wrapped around the iPod. Due to this it becomes easier to navigate the iPod and choose the required music.

Advantages

Disadvantages

The iPod cannot be fully accessed by the remote. It has an expensive price tag.

Sound

The sound of these speakers is potent and still full and crystal clear. The music can be listened to at normal volume. This would fill the room with rich and deep sound. In some speaker systems, the sound leaks from the left and right channels. However, the Zeppelin causes even distribution of the sound that comes from the speakers. This speaker system can be turned up loud or up to “11.” The listener will be astonished that at such a level also, the sound is full and clear. There is absolutely no distortion. The loudness can be handled by the speakers. For occasions like the cookouts and cocktail parties, the listener can increase the volume. There are small increments in the volume control. Due to this, the volume can be set at exactly the desired level.

Set up and System design

The set up is extremely simple. Simply the user has to plug in the power. Then the Zeppelin has to be set on the base. Then one is ready for the music. The set up is so straight forward and self explanatory, that there is no need of any instructions to guide the user during the set up. Still, for those who wish to refer to the instructions, there is a well presented, clear and detailed manual.

There is a volume adjuster and power button, on the front of the speaker system. At the back of the speaker grill, there is a small light that is visible only when the system is on. By viewing this light, it can be known when the user is at minimum or maximum volume, when the system has accepted the remote control signal and when the system is on. There is a composite video out, s-Video output, auxiliary input, USB and an input for power on the back of the speaker system.

Remote

The remote is egg shaped and small and fits comfortably in the hand. The layout is simple and easy to use. This can be used to turn the system off or on, adjust the volume or easily advance or replay songs. The speaker system provides a feedback. The user knows that a selection has been made after viewing a blue light on the system.
