Epson Perfection 4490 Photo Scanner
This has an in-built transparency unit with dedicated light source for a good scan uniformity. It has a professional level 4800 x 9600 resolution. There is a powerful Epson easy photo fix to restore faded color photos. It has versatile scanning with film holders for 2 ¼ inch transparencies, slides and 35 mm negatives. The 3.4 Dmax has a wide dynamic range and good image quality.

In the box that is obtained there is Epson Perfection 4490 Photo Scanner and 2.7 inches x 9.3 inches transparency unit built in the lid. There is also a CD-ROM with Epson Scan software, productivity software and Electronic reference guide. There is another CD-Rom with Adobe Photoshop Elements. In addition to these, there is a power cable, AC adapter, Epson Setup Sheet and Hi-speed USB 2.0 cable. There are two film holders – 35 mm slides and film strips and medium format.
This device is sensitive regarding cropping. This permits to manually adjust cropping. The user can disable this feature and just scan every slide as a separate file and capture the whole frame. To fix the position of the slides in respect to the scanner, plastic slide holders are used. The Epson software enables to split multiple slides in the absence of cropping. The Epson installation process does not need a reboot to start scanning.
